Guest Information – Hr Venton Farm

Welcome to Hr Venton Farm. We hope you enjoy your stay in our unique Grade II listed farmhouse. Please take a few moments to read the following information to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here to help!

🔥 Fire Safety

  • Each room is equipped with a fire alarm system, all of which are linked throughout the house.
  • Emergency lighting on the landing and staircase is on 24 hours a day for your safety and cannot be turned off.
  • Please read the Fire Safety Card located on the dressing table in your room.
  • In the event of an alarm, follow the instructions on the Fire Card.
  • The family lives on-site and will assist with evacuation during the night if necessary.
  • Candles and open flames are not permitted in guest rooms.

🚰 Water

  • We strongly recommend drinking the fresh water provided in your room.
  • Please avoid using water from the taps in the bedroom for drinking purposes.

📶 WIFI & Mobile Signal

  • WIFI Network: bt guest
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect.
  • Please note: Connectivity can be inconsistent due to our remote moorland location.
  • There is no mobile phone signal in the village.

🏡 House Features & Accessibility

  • Ceilings: Some ceilings are low due to the historic nature of the building.
  • Steps & Levels: There are uneven floors and various levels throughout.
  • Stairs: The spiral staircase is steep – please always hold the handrail when using the stairs.
  • Rugs and thresholds: Watch for trip hazards, and we recommend suitable indoor footwear with grip.
  • If you have mobility concerns, please notify us in advance for suitable assistance.

 

🧳 Luggage Assistance

  • We are happy to assist with carrying luggage up and down the stairs. Please let us know if you need help.

 

🔑 Keys

  • You will be provided with a bedroom key and a front door key.
  • Please carry them with you for access during your stay.
  • On departure, leave the keys in the bedroom door.

 

🥐 Breakfast

  • A continental breakfast is served from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM in the dining area.
  • If you have allergies or dietary requirements, please inform us ahead of your stay so we can accommodate your needs.

  • Check-out time is 10:00 AM on the day of your departure.

  • Only use the electrical items provided in the room.
  • Do not overload sockets or use personal high-wattage appliances.
  • Report any faults, flickering lights, or damage immediately.

  • Always lock windows and doors when leaving the property.
  • Do not admit strangers into the house.
  • For the safety of all guests, no unregistered visitors are permitted.

❄️ Heating & Ventilation

  • Do not move or cover portable heaters.
  • Keep bathrooms ventilated during and after use to prevent damp and condensation.

👣 Slips, Trips & Falls

  • Mind low beams, uneven flooring, and door thresholds.
  • Use caution when walking with wet shoes—please wipe feet at the door.
  • Wear appropriate indoor footwear with grip.

☠️ Allergies & Sensitivities

  • This is a rural property and may contain common allergens such as dust, pet hair, or pollen.
  • We clean thoroughly but cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.

🧒 Children & Vulnerable Guests

  • Children must be supervised at all times, especially near stairs and outdoor areas.
  • Please inform us in advance if you require child safety items.

 

🚗 Parking & Outdoor Areas

  • Parking is on uneven ground – use designated spaces and take care in poor weather.
  • Be aware of livestock and wildlife on the moorland roads and lane into the farm.
  • Parking at your own risk.
  • Do not at anytime on Dartmoor or the farm leave any valuables in your car.
  • Note we do not offer secure parking on our premises.

 

🧯 Open Fires & Appliances

  • Do not light fireplaces or stoves unless instructed.
  • No smoking or open flames are allowed indoors.

🧳 Personal Belongings

  • Guests are responsible for their personal property. We are not liable for lost or stolen items.
  • We recommend having travel insurance that includes personal liability, cancellation, and medical cover.
